Depression ranks among the most prevalent mental health disorders. It's estimated that 5-6 million people in Germany grapple with this condition. The symptoms can vary widely and differ from one individual to the next. Common indicators include persistent feelings of sadness, diminished interest in once-enjoyed activities, sleep disturbances, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, lack of energy, difficulty concentrating, and in more severe cases, recurrent thoughts of ending one's life.
Depression can profoundly impact all aspects of a person's life. It often results in a marked loss of motivation, energy, and focus. This can make even day-to-day tasks feel challenging or insurmountable. Personal relationships can suffer too, either from the person actively withdrawing from them or due to stigma and misunderstanding from their community.
